This is a piece from ASCO Daily News that Dr. Whitney Zahnd and I worked on highlighting cancer disparities in rural America. Improving access to health care services is critical to impact outcomes at both individual and population levels. But first and foremost, we as a society need to care about equity!
Below is a graphic of my interpretation of the six dimensions of accessibility (adapted from Dear 1977). We need to better understand the impact of socioeconomic determinants and geography to solve many of these challenges.
